Infrastructure installs and maintains the operating system for the campus IBM Mainframe. In addition, Infrastructure installs and supports approximately 80 software products that work with the operating system to meet the application requirements of our users. The mainframe administration team designs and writes computer code for subroutines, utilities and user exits that interface with the operating system and various products. The team also writes and maintains online documentation for these services.
Infrastructure provides informal training sessions, help with dump reading, and general troubleshooting. The mainframe administration team also assists operations with various mainframe-computing issues and provides them with documentation for running the system.
By working with hardware and software engineers, Infrastructure provide a platform that has a 98 percent availability rating.
