| Purdue Mobile Learning Initiative HP Program Recommended SystemsOn-Campus Technical Support and Loaner Laptop ProgramWith your purchase you are provided with on-campus support and service from technicians trained specifically in laptop program issues. If your warranty-covered laptop repair cannot be done quickly, you may be issued a loaner laptop. Our on-campus support is convenient and cost effective. In our original printed publication, we stated “If you purchase a computer outside of the Purdue program, repairs will cost about $45 an hour, plus parts.” That statement is inaccurate. Repairs or hardware installations to your computer purchased through the Purdue program that are not covered in your warranty will cost about $45 an hour, plus parts. The repair center cannot perform repairs or installations on computers not purchased through this program. We suggest that you check with your department or school about your hardware and software needs before purchasing any computer. What does the insurance cover?HP’s service policy includes telephone support, pick-up and repair, or replacement of a failed unit at Purdue’s Repair Center.Accidental DamageAccidental damage includes fire, non-intentional spills, drops, falls, collisions, and power surges and includes damage to the screen. In the case of accidental damage, your computer will be sent to HP for repair. Please note that loaner computers are available only when warranty work is done.Theft ProtectionHP provides a theft recovery and asset tracking policy with Computrace. When you report a theft, your computer is flagged as stolen at a monitoring center. Your computer is equipped with software that will silently call in to the monitoring center and report its location every 15 minutes while connected to the Internet, allowing you to initiate recovery of your computer with your local law enforcement agency. |
