Acrobat and Flashpaper: Creating Documents for Easy e-Delivery
Intended Audience:

Prerequisite Skills:
basic computing experience
Course Description:
After completing this workshop you will be able to create PDF documents, including simple text documents and more advanced ones with bookmarks, hyperlinks, and form fields. You will also learn how to download and install Macromedia Flashpaper to your computer and convert simple text documents to Flashpaper format.

After this workshop, you will be able to:

  • Convert documents to PDF format
  • Create easy navigation with thumbnails and bookmarks
  • Edit graphics and text
  • Add web links to PDF documents
  • Add annotations/comments
  • Create forms with Adobe Designer
  • Use Macromedia Flashpaper to convert documents to Flashpaper format

Advanced Applications of Macromedia Dreamweaver
Intended Audience:
Faculty, staff, and graduate students
Prerequisite Skills:
You must take “Instructional Applications of Dreamweaver” before attending this workshop.
Course Description:
A continuation of “Instructional Applications of Dreamweaver,” this hands-on, interactive workshop explores the more complex tools available in Macromedia Dreamweaver MX 2004. You will continue to develop and improve your instructional web site with the use of templates, metatags, behaviors, Cascading Style Sheets, and layers.

Dreamweaver 8: Editing PHP/MySQL
Intended Audience:
Undergraduate and Graduate Students
Prerequisite Skills:
Introduction to PHP or basic understanding of PHP and Introduction to Dreamweaver.
Course Description:
The goal of this 50 minute course is to teach the user how to create and publish a web site in Macromedia Dreamweaver MX 2004 that can connect to a MySQL database and perform simple database interactions, such as logins and displaying records. Create a new site in Dreamweaver that uses PHP/MySQL. Connect a Dreamweaver site to a MySQL Database. Use the built in wizards to utilize your MySQL Database.

Dynamic Web Development using the Macromedia Dreamweaver MX 2004 Environment
Intended Audience:
Advanced Web Designers
Prerequisite Skills:
Strong web development skills and experience are required.

This class requires instructor approval to attend: to register, please add yourself to the waiting list and the instructor will contact you.

Course Description:
This newly-developed class will be an exploration of using Macromedia Dreamweaver MX 2004 to accomplish advanced web development tasks, such as creating database driven sites, and incorporating scripting logic into the client and server side code. Rudimentary concepts of database driven sites will be touched on, but the interested participant should have a strong grounding in introductory and advanced web development outside of the Dreamweaver environment, including knowledge of at least one scripting language.

A basic understanding of how to create static sites both in, and out, of Dreamweaver will also be assumed.

Instructional Applications of Macromedia Dreamweaver

Course Description:

This workshop consists of two separate meeting times. You should attend both.

This hands-on, interactive workshop will cover the steps needed to design and create an effective Web presence, focusing on the creation of an instructional web site. The workshop will work through the process of planning, analysis, design and development, usability testing, and implementation, highlighting important issues in each of these areas as you create your site.

A basic introduction to Macromedia Dreamweaver MX 2004 and its tools will help you begin to work toward the creation of your design and structure of your web site.

Introduction to PHP
Intended Audience:
Undergraduate and Graduate Students

Basic HTML or scripting knowledge
Course Description:
This 50 minute course is designed to introduce the student to the PHP server-side programming language and what its capabilities are. The course will demonstrate how PHP can be used to gather form information and print output to an html page. This course should also expose the student to other more complex uses of PHP, such as its ability to gather and insert data into databases.
